Old system out – Wattium replaced in one night<\/h2>\n
We got the Wattium system for a trial run and the next evening we went to a cottage in Ylitorno. The installation went smoothly that evening – clear instructions and ready-made connectors made the job surprisingly straightforward. <\/p>\n
Our old system, the Victron Energy Multiplus 3000, was decommissioned. It was replaced by a complete solution that changed the entire ease of cottage life. <\/p>\n
Light, power and confidence – without playing handball<\/h3>\n
We use many appliances: lights, sockets, TV, fridge, cooker hood, extractor fan, Safire heater and a borehole pump (Grundfos SQE2). The aggregate is a Timco 3000. <\/p>\n
What was particularly interesting about the Wattium deployment was the remote start of the aggregator and the mobile phone app, which makes it easy to check the electricity situation in the cottage – wherever you are.<\/p>\n
Coming to the cottage in winter made a big difference<\/h3>\n
We stay in the cottage from spring-winter (week 10), and in December the cottage is put into hibernation. Wattium has made this rhythm much more effortless. <\/p>\n
In the past, the aggregate was stored in the sauna. When you arrived at the cottage, you first had to heat the sauna so that the aggregate could be taken out, connected and started. In the evening, it would be brought back inside so that the next morning would not start with problems. <\/p>\n
With Wattium, these routines are a thing of the past.<\/p>\n
Alone at the cottage – safety and comfort<\/h3>\n
I hunt a lot in autumn and early winter, and often go to the cottage alone with the dogs. In the past, I might leave the aggregate on all day if I went hunting. It would run as long as there was enough petrol in the tank. <\/p>\n
Now I can check the situation from my mobile phone and turn on the aggregate or heater remotely – even in the middle of a hunt. The Safire oil heater also works with remote start, so you can turn it on the day before. <\/p>\n
It’s a completely different feeling to come to a warm cabin than to a cold, dark space where the batteries have already been drained.<\/p>\n
Water from 100 metres – without aggregate<\/h3>\n
Previously, the borehole pump was only powered by an aggregate – the batteries did not have enough power to draw water. The Wattium now does this too, effortlessly: from a depth of 100 metres, water is lifted without the need to do anything separately. <\/p>\n
Less adjustment – more time to be<\/h3>\n
We are very satisfied with the ease of use and reliability of the system. Cottage life has become much easier and more relaxed – the power works, the heat comes on and the water rises without fuss. <\/p>\n

He explains how electricity changed the way the cottage was used from the very first summer.<\/p>\n
– With comfortable electricity, the cottage is in use from September until well into October. In the past, the cottage season ended much earlier. <\/p>\n
Freedom without electricity network contracts<\/h2>\n
Kimmo says that he particularly enjoys the fact that the cottage is completely unplugged.<\/p>\n
– Being off the grid is a great thing! It feels really nice to have electricity available when you need it – especially in the summer. <\/p>\n
– And you don’t have to pay expensive monthly fees when you don’t even use electricity. A neighbour installed an electricity connection, and now he pays every month, even though he doesn’t even go to the cottage in winter. It saves us a lot of money. <\/p>\n
Electricity brought new opportunities – and young people to the cottage<\/h2>\n
– When the cottage got electricity, it opened up a lot of new possibilities. For example, the kitchen was renovated. The old, faulty fridge was removed and replaced by an energy-efficient model that uses surprisingly little power. <\/p>\n
– Young people have also become more interested in camping. Of course, the first visits, which include emptying the toilet, are still left to us parents,” Kimmo laughs. <\/p>\n
Electricity for your smoker, coffee maker and laptop<\/h2>\n
Kimmo gives concrete examples of what electricity has been used for.<\/p>\n
– Smoked fish with an electric smoker. It took 50Ah of power, but the battery still had plenty of power. Even the coffee was made in autumn, even though the sun is already starting to fade. <\/p>\n
– You can even work remotely from your cottage. It’s a whole new dimension to camping. <\/p>\n
Easy to set up: “Switch on and electricity works”<\/h2>\n
Kimmo is particularly pleased with how easy it was to set up the device.<\/p>\n
– Wattium was lifted into the yard shed. When the power switch was turned ON, the screen appeared directly on the mobile phone – and 230V electricity was immediately available. <\/p>\n
The solar panels were installed on the edge of the plot, where the sun can shine all day. They had enough power to meet the electricity needs for the whole summer. <\/p>\n
– It was interesting to monitor the production and sufficiency of electricity. No aggregate has been needed at all. <\/p>\n
All set for the new season<\/h2>\n
– When the device was switched on again after the winter, the battery was still well charged. Now we’re looking forward to the next few days at the cottage, when everything will be ready,” Kimmo smiles. <\/p>\n

There is a cottage on the northern shore of Lake Inari, with no road access. It can only be reached by water – or by snowmobile in winter. Owner Olli and his family wanted something simple: lights, a vacuum cleaner and a freezer in operation, also for use in autumn and spring-winter. A diesel generator had done the job for many years, but now they wanted a photovoltaic system alongside. <\/p>\n
The components were purchased from an experienced professional supplier: a Victron Multiplus 48\/5000 inverter, MPPT controller, panels, Cerbo GX, SmartShunt and an assembled 16-cell battery with heating and BMS. All good stuff – on paper a workable package. <\/p>\n
Three long days – no lights<\/h2>\n
The installation started in earnest. A very competent electrician and his team of friends worked three long days. Remote telephone support was available, but the system still wouldn’t work. <\/p>\n
Victron’s ecosystem is efficient – but also demanding. The inverter, MPPT controller, Cerbo GX, BMS and SmartShunt all need to communicate with each other in the right configuration. One wrong setting in the chain is enough to stop everything. <\/p>\n
The remote conditions made the situation even more difficult: poor network connectivity made software updates difficult, apps crashed and Bluetooth connections faltered. The inverter alerted about low battery voltage, even though the meter showed a normal reading. No one knew exactly which configurations had already been done and what was still missing. <\/p>\n
Finally, I had to give up and pack my stuff back into the boat. 65 kilometres down the lake – and the system is still at a standstill. <\/p>\n
Wattium was invited<\/h2>\n
Olli heard about us from Aki, our customer in Inari, who recommended Wattium. We agreed on an offer and a commissioning plan – and the week after Midsummer Olli and our electrician loaded the device onto a trailer and set off from Oulu towards Inari. The journey took a whole day and ended with a two-hour boat trip on Olli’s large cruising boat. <\/p>\n
In the evening at 18 o’clock a call came from the cottage. The device was lifted out of its box, the solar panels were connected – and the electricity was switched on. The system immediately appeared on the mobile phone and started generating electricity for the cottage. Olli immediately called his friend: “Now the electricity is working.” <\/p>\n
Life with electricity<\/h2>\n
The solar panels already installed and their controller will work as they are. The panels are mounted on the wall of a log building in the courtyard and are producing surprisingly good electricity – even in the last weeks of January. This is partly due to the fact that the panels face 20 kilometres of Lake Inari. <\/p>\n
Olli and his family have a wide circle of friends, and often spend extended periods of time with them at the cottage, fishing the rich waters of the lake. The vacuum-packed catch is collected in a freezer for later use and distribution. Even berry picking in summer is a regular tradition at the cottage – and there are several freezer cabinets for this purpose. <\/p>\n
The cottage kitchen has received new attention with the addition of electricity: a full-height fridge-freezer has been purchased, for which Wattium provided model recommendations. Next on the shopping list is a kitchen cabinet refit using existing high quality frame materials and bespoke doors. <\/p>\n
It has been possible to keep the large boat “on electricity” and the electricity has been good enough for that too.<\/p>\n
Next step: windmill<\/h2>\n
The guys have been very enthusiastic about getting a windmill. Wattium made a customer request a study<\/a><\/strong> (link) – and the results were promising. Mounted on a suitable mast in the location in question, the relatively low-power but high-quality windmill generates energy precisely during the darkest periods of winter, when solar panels are at their quietest. In good wind conditions, the batteries retain their charge and the electricity can even be used without an aggregate. <\/p>\nA windmill has been purchased. It will be installed next summer, once the debris has melted and the mast can be secured.
We are looking forward to seeing how the output of the windmill appears on the screen of our mobile phones. <\/p>\n

Old system out – Wattium replaced in one night<\/h2>\n
We got the Wattium system for a trial run and the next evening we went to a cottage in Ylitorno. The installation went smoothly that evening – clear instructions and ready-made connectors made the job surprisingly straightforward. <\/p>\n
Our old system, the Victron Energy Multiplus 3000, was decommissioned. It was replaced by a complete solution that changed the entire ease of cottage life. <\/p>\n
Light, power and confidence – without playing handball<\/h3>\n
We use many appliances: lights, sockets, TV, fridge, cooker hood, extractor fan, Safire heater and a borehole pump (Grundfos SQE2). The aggregate is a Timco 3000. <\/p>\n
What was particularly interesting about the Wattium deployment was the remote start of the aggregator and the mobile phone app, which makes it easy to check the electricity situation in the cottage – wherever you are.<\/p>\n
Coming to the cottage in winter made a big difference<\/h3>\n
We stay in the cottage from spring-winter (week 10), and in December the cottage is put into hibernation. Wattium has made this rhythm much more effortless. <\/p>\n
In the past, the aggregate was stored in the sauna. When you arrived at the cottage, you first had to heat the sauna so that the aggregate could be taken out, connected and started. In the evening, it would be brought back inside so that the next morning would not start with problems. <\/p>\n
With Wattium, these routines are a thing of the past.<\/p>\n
Alone at the cottage – safety and comfort<\/h3>\n
I hunt a lot in autumn and early winter, and often go to the cottage alone with the dogs. In the past, I might leave the aggregate on all day if I went hunting. It would run as long as there was enough petrol in the tank. <\/p>\n
Now I can check the situation from my mobile phone and turn on the aggregate or heater remotely – even in the middle of a hunt. The Safire oil heater also works with remote start, so you can turn it on the day before. <\/p>\n
It’s a completely different feeling to come to a warm cabin than to a cold, dark space where the batteries have already been drained.<\/p>\n
Water from 100 metres – without aggregate<\/h3>\n
Previously, the borehole pump was only powered by an aggregate – the batteries did not have enough power to draw water. The Wattium now does this too, effortlessly: from a depth of 100 metres, water is lifted without the need to do anything separately. <\/p>\n
Less adjustment – more time to be<\/h3>\n
We are very satisfied with the ease of use and reliability of the system. Cottage life has become much easier and more relaxed – the power works, the heat comes on and the water rises without fuss. <\/p>\n

What happens when you get modern, off-grid electricity for your cottage? Kimmo, a cottage owner from Savonlinna, tells us about his experience with Wattium, which not only brought electricity to his cottage, but also a new level of freedom, comfort and an extended cottage season. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

He explains how electricity changed the way the cottage was used from the very first summer.<\/p>\n
– With comfortable electricity, the cottage is in use from September until well into October. In the past, the cottage season ended much earlier. <\/p>\n
Freedom without electricity network contracts<\/h2>\n
Kimmo says that he particularly enjoys the fact that the cottage is completely unplugged.<\/p>\n
– Being off the grid is a great thing! It feels really nice to have electricity available when you need it – especially in the summer. <\/p>\n
– And you don’t have to pay expensive monthly fees when you don’t even use electricity. A neighbour installed an electricity connection, and now he pays every month, even though he doesn’t even go to the cottage in winter. It saves us a lot of money. <\/p>\n
Electricity brought new opportunities – and young people to the cottage<\/h2>\n
– When the cottage got electricity, it opened up a lot of new possibilities. For example, the kitchen was renovated. The old, faulty fridge was removed and replaced by an energy-efficient model that uses surprisingly little power. <\/p>\n
– Young people have also become more interested in camping. Of course, the first visits, which include emptying the toilet, are still left to us parents,” Kimmo laughs. <\/p>\n
Electricity for your smoker, coffee maker and laptop<\/h2>\n
Kimmo gives concrete examples of what electricity has been used for.<\/p>\n
– Smoked fish with an electric smoker. It took 50Ah of power, but the battery still had plenty of power. Even the coffee was made in autumn, even though the sun is already starting to fade. <\/p>\n
– You can even work remotely from your cottage. It’s a whole new dimension to camping. <\/p>\n
Easy to set up: “Switch on and electricity works”<\/h2>\n
Kimmo is particularly pleased with how easy it was to set up the device.<\/p>\n
– Wattium was lifted into the yard shed. When the power switch was turned ON, the screen appeared directly on the mobile phone – and 230V electricity was immediately available. <\/p>\n
The solar panels were installed on the edge of the plot, where the sun can shine all day. They had enough power to meet the electricity needs for the whole summer. <\/p>\n
– It was interesting to monitor the production and sufficiency of electricity. No aggregate has been needed at all. <\/p>\n
All set for the new season<\/h2>\n
– When the device was switched on again after the winter, the battery was still well charged. Now we’re looking forward to the next few days at the cottage, when everything will be ready,” Kimmo smiles. <\/p>\n

Cottage at the edge of the world<\/h2>\n
<\/p>\nThere is a cottage on the northern shore of Lake Inari, with no road access. It can only be reached by water – or by snowmobile in winter. Owner Olli and his family wanted something simple: lights, a vacuum cleaner and a freezer in operation, also for use in autumn and spring-winter. A diesel generator had done the job for many years, but now they wanted a photovoltaic system alongside. <\/p>\n
The components were purchased from an experienced professional supplier: a Victron Multiplus 48\/5000 inverter, MPPT controller, panels, Cerbo GX, SmartShunt and an assembled 16-cell battery with heating and BMS. All good stuff – on paper a workable package. <\/p>\n
Three long days – no lights<\/h2>\n
The installation started in earnest. A very competent electrician and his team of friends worked three long days. Remote telephone support was available, but the system still wouldn’t work. <\/p>\n
Victron’s ecosystem is efficient – but also demanding. The inverter, MPPT controller, Cerbo GX, BMS and SmartShunt all need to communicate with each other in the right configuration. One wrong setting in the chain is enough to stop everything. <\/p>\n
The remote conditions made the situation even more difficult: poor network connectivity made software updates difficult, apps crashed and Bluetooth connections faltered. The inverter alerted about low battery voltage, even though the meter showed a normal reading. No one knew exactly which configurations had already been done and what was still missing. <\/p>\n
Finally, I had to give up and pack my stuff back into the boat. 65 kilometres down the lake – and the system is still at a standstill. <\/p>\n
Wattium was invited<\/h2>\n
Olli heard about us from Aki, our customer in Inari, who recommended Wattium. We agreed on an offer and a commissioning plan – and the week after Midsummer Olli and our electrician loaded the device onto a trailer and set off from Oulu towards Inari. The journey took a whole day and ended with a two-hour boat trip on Olli’s large cruising boat. <\/p>\n
In the evening at 18 o’clock a call came from the cottage. The device was lifted out of its box, the solar panels were connected – and the electricity was switched on. The system immediately appeared on the mobile phone and started generating electricity for the cottage. Olli immediately called his friend: “Now the electricity is working.” <\/p>\n
Life with electricity<\/h2>\n
The solar panels already installed and their controller will work as they are. The panels are mounted on the wall of a log building in the courtyard and are producing surprisingly good electricity – even in the last weeks of January. This is partly due to the fact that the panels face 20 kilometres of Lake Inari. <\/p>\n
Olli and his family have a wide circle of friends, and often spend extended periods of time with them at the cottage, fishing the rich waters of the lake. The vacuum-packed catch is collected in a freezer for later use and distribution. Even berry picking in summer is a regular tradition at the cottage – and there are several freezer cabinets for this purpose. <\/p>\n
The cottage kitchen has received new attention with the addition of electricity: a full-height fridge-freezer has been purchased, for which Wattium provided model recommendations. Next on the shopping list is a kitchen cabinet refit using existing high quality frame materials and bespoke doors. <\/p>\n
It has been possible to keep the large boat “on electricity” and the electricity has been good enough for that too.<\/p>\n
Next step: windmill<\/h2>\n
The guys have been very enthusiastic about getting a windmill. Wattium made a customer request a study<\/a><\/strong> (link) – and the results were promising. Mounted on a suitable mast in the location in question, the relatively low-power but high-quality windmill generates energy precisely during the darkest periods of winter, when solar panels are at their quietest. In good wind conditions, the batteries retain their charge and the electricity can even be used without an aggregate. <\/p>\n
A windmill has been purchased. It will be installed next summer, once the debris has melted and the mast can be secured.
We are looking forward to seeing how the output of the windmill appears on the screen of our mobile phones. <\/p>\nClose –><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Before Wattium: constant adjustment and uncertainty<\/h3>\n
Before the Wattium, the electrification of the cottage was a stressful issue that required constant attention. The Victro Multiplus 3000VA inverter often went into overload, and the old lead-acid batteries could never be relied upon – <\/span>they had to be replaced three times in six years<\/strong>. The actual capacity of the batteries was obscure, and in the evenings it was almost routine to go out and start the big aggregate. <\/p>\n
In the quiet wilderness, a gasoline-powered generator broke the mood. It kept running for hours, and while the electricity came, the price was noise, hassle and constant uncertainty. <\/p>\n
Wattium surprised – this time positively<\/h3>\n
When Wattium was introduced, there were still surprises – but now they were all positive. Suddenly there was more power and reliability than ever before. <\/span>This made it possible to equip the cottage like a permanent home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
