How Wattium works
On this page, we calmly explain how Wattium generates and manages electricity for your cottage without the need for a grid.
The aim is not to sell, but to help you understand why the system works reliably even when many other solutions do not.
Cottage electricity is often surprisingly inconvenient
Many cottage owners have encountered the same situation: the electricity system for their cottage sometimes works, but not always.
Typical problems include:
-
the complexity and fragmentation of systems assembled on site
-
insufficient power for household appliances
-
slow battery charging and poor performance in cold conditions
-
uncertainty about when to use the aggregate
Wattium has been developed to address these problems.
Why Wattium is a worry-free solution for your cottage
The Wattium is a pre-assembled and tested unit that brings standard 230-volt electricity to the cottage without the need for a mains supply. It is quick to set up and requires no technical knowledge or constant adjustment.
The system is designed to work reliably even in Finland’s variable and cold conditions. Wattium has been developed and tested with Finnish cottage owners – specifically for real cottage use.
A unique entity
Wattium is a whole, with all the parts working together.
-
one clear device
-
no need to understand detailed technology
- the parts work best together
The patented dual inverter solution has resulted in a high power system without the problem of inverter wastage.
If necessary, even more sophisticated systems can be implemented without dependence on any equipment supplier.
Electricity production at the cottage
Solar panels are Wattium’s primary source of energy.
Because the yield varies so much depending on the weather, the Wattium is designed so that:
-
no wasted energy
-
the system adapts to varying conditions
- you can manage with fewer panels
You can follow the production of the panels on the simple screen of your mobile phone. It has been fascinating for most

Energy storage and energy efficiency
The energy from the solar panels is stored in a battery and can be used when the sun is not shining.
Wattium uses modern battery technology that enables:
-
fast charging
-
high efficiency
-
reliable operation even in cold conditions
- very long service life
Battery operation and protection are automatic.
At the heart of the battery is a high-quality industrial cell
230 V electricity for your cottage – just like at home
Wattium produces a standard 230 volt AC current.
It means that the cottage can be used:
-
coffee maker, tea maker, toaster
-
fridge and freezer – even when not on
-
microwave and electric stove
-
water pump
-
even dishwasher and electric oven
-
power tools if necessary
A system that is too light may require a complete overhaul as aspirations grow
Aggregate – only if necessary
If solar power is insufficient and the battery runs out, Wattium can start the aggregator automatically, or you can start it with your mobile phone.
The Wattium solution reduces the need for an aggregate.
-
less noise
-
lower fuel consumption
-
longer aggregate life
Approximately 3 kW Inverter Aggregate is quiet and low-powered
Monitoring and use on your mobile phone
Wattium can be monitored from a clear view on your smartphone. One glance and you can see:
-
battery charge status (top)
-
energy production and consumption (centre)
-
battery voltage (lowest)
-
the general status of the system
Monitoring is intended to be understandable, not technical.
If everything works normally, the user does not need to do anything.
Two installation options
Capture model
The cabinet model is an enclosed solution, which is well suited when you want a finished and protected package. It can be installed indoors or outdoors, depending on the site.
Open model
The open model is a solution built on a sturdy steel plate, suitable for technical and weather-protected spaces. Functionally, the models are similar – the difference is in the installation method.
Two main models, difference in housing
Designed for Finnish conditions
Wattium has been developed and field-tested for northern conditions. Cold, humidity and long periods of darkness have already been taken into account in the design phase.
The device has been in use for years, most of them in Inari in the north and Savonlinna in the south.
This shows:
-
reliable performance in sub-zero temperatures
-
as a stable power output
-
long service life

Who Wattium is for
Wattium is ideal for the cottage owner who:
-
wants worry-free electricity without a connection
-
values reliability more than regulation
-
wants to use ordinary household appliances
-
does not want to become an expert on the electricity system
If your goal is to live in your cottage, not watch the system, the Wattium is the right solution.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is Wattium?
Wattium is a complete solution for electrifying your cottage without a mains electricity supply. It combines solar energy, a battery and, if necessary, an aggregate into a single, automatic system.
How is Wattium different from traditional photovoltaic systems?
Wattium is not a system assembled on site, but a pre-designed system. There is no need for the user to configure different devices or to think about how the system will work in different situations.
How much power does Wattium produce?
The wattage is rated to allow normal cottage use and most household appliances to operate normally. The exact wattage and configuration is always determined by the needs of the site.
In principle, the wattage can be scaled to any size.
In the basic model (Twinpower 3000), the inverter has a continuous output power of 3000 watts, which is sufficient for the simultaneous use of most appliances in your cottage or home. For example, you can use an induction plate and a coffee machine at the same time. In practice, it is good to take into account instantaneous starting currents, especially for high-power appliances such as some construction machines. Wattium’s design allows for flexible use without the need to constantly monitor the use of equipment in everyday life.
What happens if the sun does not shine for several days?
Wattium first uses the energy stored in the battery. If it is not enough, the system can automatically start the aggregator and charge the batteries.
Wattium’s patented energy-saving technology significantly reduces the average power consumption of the device and allows it to provide sufficient power over longer periods of cloudy weather.
How does the battery work in the cold?
The battery technology and controls used in the Wattium are designed to work in cold conditions. The system automatically ensures safe battery operation.
The battery can also be charged at temperatures below 0 C without preheating. This is a unique feature and very valuable in cold weather. All the energy taken from the panels and the generator can be recycled.
Can the system be monitored remotely?
Yes. Wattium can be monitored from a clear view on your smartphone. The view is intended for the ordinary user, not as a technical tool.
What if something goes wrong?
Wattium monitors its own activity and tries to prevent any activity that could shorten the life of the system or harm the user.
Wattium is designed to protect the battery from deep discharge. The system automatically enters sleep mode before the battery is discharged to a harmful level. In addition, if an aggregate is connected to the system, it can be automatically started to charge the batteries, preventing power outages.
If for any reason the battery continues to drain, the system will detect the status of individual cells in the battery pack and completely disconnect the entire device.
The unit has automatic overcurrent protection, both for the inverters and for the 230V input and aggregate input.
The device also has a so-called residual current device, which is a requirement for new buildings. It cuts off the 230 V power supply when it detects that electrical equipment is leaking current to the ground.
How much maintenance does Wattium require?
In normal use, maintenance is low. The system is designed to operate independently and reliably.
The most significant maintenance item is typically the aggregate, which requires periodic replacement of oil and some wearing parts. However, as its use decreases, its maintenance intervals also increase.
Is the Wattium available in different models?
The Wattium is available as a cabinet model and as an open model. Functionally, the solutions are similar – the difference is in the installation method.
Where can I get help if I have a question?
